The three rivers merge and form 3,500 acre Carters Lake, undeveloped except for recreational purposes. Its 11 miles of shoreline includes one marina, a beach, several boat ramps and campgrounds, and pristine mountain scenery.
Whitepath Golf Course features stunning mountain vistas, spring fed lakes, waterfalls and the Ellijay River, along with 18 holes of public golf and a driving range.
Other local and area attractions include Fort Mountain and Amicalola Falls State Parks, antique shopping in downtown Ellijay and Blue Ridge, and a variety of seasonal festivals and events, including Ellijay's "Georgia Apple Festival", held each October to the delight of apple lovers, leaf-lookers, and arts & crafts aficionados alike.
